The matchstick remedy works because the head of a matchstick contains
Phos and Sulphur

When my kids had diarrhoea I used to use a can of coco cola (not diet)
make is flat by stirring a little sugar in a then giving it to them to
drink. This provents dehydration but also contains Phos Acid.

I believe blackberries stop diarrhoea.

I found the following online

The most common herbal remedies for diarrhea are described below. They
can be used as teas unless otherwise noted. Make teas with 1 tsp. herb
per cup of hot water. Steep covered 5 - 10 minutes for leaf or flowers,
and 10 - 20 minutes for roots. Drink 2 - 4 cups per day.

Astringent herbs:
Astringent herbs, such as blackberry leaf (Rubus fruticosus) or
raspberry leaf (Rubus idaeus), help "dry up" the mucous membranes in the
intestine. Make a tea with 1 heaping tsp. per cup. Drink a cup per
hour.
Carob powder (Ceratonia siliqua), which is rich in fiber, may be taken
at the rate of 1.5 g per 2.2 pounds or 1 kg of body weight. Dissolve
powder into a hydrating solution such as Pedialyte.
Extract of bilberry (Vaccinum myrtillus) also has astringent properties
(4 g, spread over several doses). Do not take bilberry if you take
anticoagulants (blood thinners).
Agrimony (Agrimonia eupatorium) is a traditional remedy for diarrhea.
Usual dosage is 3 g (about 1/2 tsp.) per day. Agrimony can have a blood
thinning effect and can lower blood pressure;

Inflammation reducers:
Quercetin (250 - 500 mg 2 - 4 times per day), a plant based flavonoid,
may help to reduce inflammation.
Chamomile (Matricaria recutita) is usually taken as a tea. Dissolve 3 -
4 g powder (about 3 tsp.) in 1 cup hot water, strain and cool. Drink 3
times per day.
Marshmallow root (Althea officinalis) can be taken as cold-water tea.
Soak 2 tbs. root in 1 quart of water overnight. Strain. Drink throughout
the day.
Slippery elm powder (Ulmus fulva) or marshmallow root powder (Althaea
officinalis) can be soothing to the intestines. Use 1 oz. powder to 1
quart of water. Make a paste with the powder and a small amount of
water. Gradually add in the rest of the water and then simmer down to 1
pint. Take 1 tsp. every 30 - 60 minutes.

Infection fighters:
Plants containing berberine may help treat infectious diarrhea. These
include barberry (Berberis vulgaris) 250 - 500 mg 3 times per day;
goldenseal (Hydrastis canadensis) 250 - 500 mg 3 times per day; and
Oregon grape (Berberis aquifolium ), 250 - 500 mg 3 times per day. Do
not take berberine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Bulk forming agent:
Psyllium, a soluble fiber that comes from the husks of the seeds of a
plant called Plantago ovata, may help treat diarrhea. It is a bulk
forming agent that soaks up water in the colon, helping

Hope this helps

dear colleagues

namaste from india.

writing to homeolist after a long time. in the days julian winston was
here - many good homeopaths were here...

I am a classical homeopath based in calcutta. india and need your advice
about a difficult case. this is important and urgent. please help.

this is a chronic OCD case with diarrhoea and little liver trouble. the
correct constitutional remedy was PHOSPHORUS. but, the case was heavy
suppressed genetic case and many homeopaths went on to give many many
remedies in very high potencies and the case got spoilt.

I did save the patient from an emergency diarrhoea - intense thirst
situation after giving phos 200 but, the chronic situation is not
getting controlled with phos in LM or C potencies. at present in 'wait
and watch' mode after phos 1 M.

*is there any 'constitutional' herbal remedy or ayurvedic herb or
homeopathic mother tincture that is _exactly__suited to a classical
phosphorus constitution? such a herb or tincture may help to heal the
body on a daily basis while phos. may work at the genetic level. before,
I give phos. 10M to this patient - such a herb may be of great help for
daily case management.

myrica cerifera? gotu kola?

please help.*

regards

I do not know if this will help but just for considerations. I have
never used it.

There is a similar remedy to phosphorus and that is Lecithin a
phosphorus-containing complex organic body prepared from the yolk of egg
and animal brain. It is phosphatide, or phospholipid, found in all
living organisms. It is a significant constituent of nervous tissue and
brain substance of animals, but is also present in plants. Chemically,
it is a mixture of the diglycerides of stearic, palmitic, and oleic
acids.

The following is from R. Murphy Materia Mecica (not sure what the right
dose is?)

Historical dose: One-half to 2 grains of crude and potencies. Twelfth
potency. Historical dose: Tincture and all potencies.

Herbal Lecithin is important in the vital processes of plant and animal
organisms. It is prepared from the yolk of egg, a phosphorus containing
complex organic body. Lecithin has a favorable influence upon the
nutritive conditions and especially upon the blood, hence its uses in
anemia and convalescence, neurasthenia and insomnia. Planets: Moon.

Homeopathic Lecithin has been used as a galactogogue remedy, it renders
breast milk more nourishing. In Tuberculosis, Lecithin causes a marked
improvement in nutrition and general improvement. It causes an immediate
decrease in the excretion of the phosphates. Tired, weak, short breath,
loss of flesh. General weakness. Neurasthenia. Sexually weak. Impotency.
Ovarian insufficiency. Anemia.

***I saw this post in another site i did try it and found it did help in
a simple case of diarrhea. *
I have C&P what was found on the other site .. if its of any help well
and good..:-)

Anyway: I have discovered that matchstick remedy works well in travelers
diarrhea and sickness. Anytime visitors come to India from western
countries, they get stomach problems within 3-4 days. More one delays
in treating it with antibiotics heavy is the price to be paid.

This time my cousins have these problems, they just came from USA,
phosphorous came to my mind and in Haridwar one homeopathy store was far
away so I used matchstick remedy and drank up the whole water. The
problem solved and this time they need not to take antibiotics.

1. Hold a matchstick near a cupful of water, burn it with other
matchstick and immediately dip the burning head (make sure it is still
in the process of being ignited). Repeat this step with another
matchstick.

2. Put the water in a one liter plastic bottle but half empty so we can
shake it up vigorously. It gets difficult to shake water if bottle is
almost full. Add two whole unburned matchsticks in the same water.

3. Tear off a part of striking surface of the matchstick and add it to
the same water. Close the lid and shake the bottle vigorously for at
least 50 times.

4. Medicine is instantly ready. Take a small spoon of water as remedy.
Repeat the dose only if needed. You can remove both burned and unburned
4 matchsticks after two days and store the liquid in refrigerator to
avoid the fermentation.

5. If remedy has to be stored, filter the water after 2 days. Bone
Necrosis cases need this remedy for prolonged period.

Later on I used this remedy on may people with almost perfect results.

Friends,

Once again, homeopathy provides good evidence for both safety & efficacy...please consider showing this one around...parents NEED to know about safer strategies!

And please consider clicking on the Facebook and Twitter links at the HuffingtonPost site because the popularity of these factors may give it more exposure at their site.

And yes, consider making a comment or two...as usual, the deniers and medical fundamentalists will be driven crazy from an article on homeopathy, and YOU should respond to them...

'Homeopathetic remedies

Then there's homeopathy. This is genuinely deceptive. The idea
behind homeopathy is quite simple. Homeopaths suggest that an
ailment can be treated with minute quantities of substances that
produce similar symptoms to those of the ailment. Quite how this
works is never explained although homeopaths no doubt want us to
think that it's a bit like vaccination where an inert form of a
dangerous infectious agent is given to the patient so he or she
can form a resistance to it.
