It's also homoeopathic education, formal and informal -- including lists
such as this one -- that first and foremost needs to address the problem of
misdirecting the public.
Whilst it's true that legislative reform is overdue, the primary problem
lies in the misinformation that the public; state and federal governments;
and even patients receive, from practitioners themselves, who in many cases
have -- witness the present discussion -- been spoonfed a diet of
conjectural codswallop from their first encounter with homoeopathy, and
have been fed it so commonly and so consistently that they become utterly
convinced that the ideas represent something real.
Repetition is, I gather, the readiest way to convince somebody that black
is white, and it has certainly worked a treat amongst those who imagine
they have a newfangled understanding of what homoeopathy is, even better
than Hahnemann did. Countering its insidious influence is a dirty job; but
it doesn't seem to me that scoffing at the pettiness of one problem helps
particularly to solve any other problem either.
Kind regards,
John
